Norton Road Wines is a new family owned venture specialising in growing and making small batch cool climate wines that reflect the terroir of the Canberra District and our region.
Owners Karen and Simon, along with their sons Lang and Max, are working with local viticulturists and winemakers in preparation for the 2019 vintage.
Norton Road Wines showcases cool climate wines from across the local Canberra District wine region, along with a selection of local and craft beers, ciders and spirits. We are proud to stock an showcase local winemakers particularly the wines of Enotria, Ironcutter and Sapling Yard wineries.
Biggie’s BBQ, the vineyard restaurant, is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays (10am to 10pm), and Sundays for Brunch, and can be booked for private functions any day. The menu is heavily influenced by American BBQ and the menu offers drink pairings and weekly food and beverage specials, including happy hours from 5 – 6.30pm on Fridays.

The Norton Road vineyard at Wamboin is a small four acre parcel of Pinot Noir, Merlot and Riesling first planted in the 1990s by the Davies family (the former Shepherd’s Run).
The vineyard is currently being rejuvenated along with new plantings of Cabernet Franc and this year we are planning to plant Gamay.
The 2019 vintage is looking very promising and we have worked with local winemakers to make our first vintages of Rosé and Pinot Noir.
Norton Road Wines hosts ‘Biggies BBQ’, a new franchise which brings traditional Texas BBQ and Southern cooking to Canberra, along with some innovative recipes using the very best of local and regional produce.
The popularity of Texas BBQ and Southern style cooking in Australia stems in large part from 2011 when the Australian dollar reached parity with the US dollar and Qantas opened direct flight to Dallas/Fort Worth.
At that time our family, like many others, visited Texas and experienced genuine American ‘low and slow’ BBQ cooking for the first time – and developed a passion for it.
Karen and Simon return to the US as often as possible to ‘research’ the very best in BBQ – think Franklins, Muellers, Smoke, Stubbs, Mickelthwaits, Harlem Road and others. And no Texas BBQ trip would be complete without visiting Lockhart known for it’s historical Texas BBQ joints like Smitty’s and Kreuz.
Biggies BBQ takes the very best recipes from Texas and the Carolinas – think smoked beef brisket, pulled pork, beef and pork ribs, smoked turkey, hot links all with our own rubs and sauces - and bring them to you.
