As small batch winemakers, Norton Road Wines has had a successful vintage for 2021. All our wines are hand made, including hand picked whole bunches and hand pressed through a traditional basket press. This year, we had a team of pickers who we are proud to call friends, and mates who have gone on the journey with us. Vintage #21 is finally over and we've been putting the finishing touches on a selection of wines.
This year we have made Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Rosé, and Riesling - and the wines are tasting fantastic - thanks to excellent fruit that we've grown or sourced from long-term growers.
We had some great rains this year, and certainly the vineyard needed it. But the cooler-than-usual summer and late rains during vintage, unfortunately, meant we weren't able to get all the Riesling off the vines. That said, we are really pleased to have produced five wines, including a Rosé.
Our small batch of Riesling and Chardonnay have been bottled. We are currently tasting our 2021 Riesling, 2020 Maya Cabernet Sauvignon, 2019 Shiraz. Shortly we will release our 2021 Chardonnay - small batch from above 790 metres, all fruit, it is delicious.
Hand-picking some excellent Pinot Noir grapes for our 2021 vintage.
