Norton Road Wines - Vintage 2022

As small batch winemakers, Norton Road Wines has had a successful vintage for 2022. All our wines are hand made, including hand picked whole bunches and hand pressed through a traditional basket press. This year, we had a team of pickers who we are proud to call friends, and mates who have gone on the journey with us. Vintage #22 is over, our reds are in the barrel and we will commence bottling them in late 2022/early 2023. We've been putting the finishing touches on a selection of our white wines including our Riesling, Unwooded Chardonnay, and our Wooded Chardonnay.  

This year we have made Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot blend the Frankie, and three whites including two Chardonnay and a Riesling. The wines are tasting fantastic - thanks to excellent fruit that we've grown at high altitude or sourced from long-term growers in the district.

We had some great rains this year, and certainly the vineyard benefited from it after the drought.  But the cooler-than-usual summer and late rains during vintage meant we weren't able to get all the fruit as ripened as we would like.
