Norton Road Wines is a family-owned venture specialising in growing and making small batch, cool-climate wines. Owners, Karen and Simon grow and make delicious wines reflecting the terroir of their location and the Canberra district.
Previously known as the Shepherds Hut winery Norton Road Wines reopened in 2019. Since then Karen and Simon have immersed themselves in new technologies for mapping and measuring vineyard yields including drone technology, monitoring moisture and replanting with ground cover indigenous to the region.
With established grounds Norton Road Wines cellar door is open weekends and by appointment. The venue is perfect for private functions and celebrations, both formal and relaxed.
The venue has also played host for large groups seeking a retreat from the office for intensive workshops and discussions, with breakout spaces availabe.

At an altitude of approximately 800m with an easterly aspect, perfectly suited to cool climate varieties including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Riesling and Chardonnay. The vineyard is being rejuvenated and extended, in

At an altitude of approximately 800m with an easterly aspect, perfectly suited to cool climate varieties including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Riesling and Chardonnay. The vineyard is being rejuvenated and extended, including additional plantings of Riesling, Pinot Meuniere, and Cabernet Franc.
A second small four-acre plot managed by us is located in nearby Bywong, featuring Pinot Noir, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. These blocks are at a lower altitude with a different micro-climate than the norton road block.
Working with local growers in the Canberra district we continue to supplement our own estate grown varieties with regional varieties from other local micro-climates.
The cellar door, restaurant/ event space overlooks the vineyard and the Wamboin hills rural bush setting.
The venue has played host to Biggies BBQ restaurant on weekends, along with the Sydney BBQ School.

With a private dining room for groups up to 16, Norton Road Wines has hosted many small intimate gatherings and celebrations in the space.
With parking for up to 30 cars the venue is conveniently located approximately 25 minutes from Canberra CBD, and 15 minutes from the Canberra International Airport.
